New Appearance
late afternoon
sun descending
yellowing rays
strike my face warmly
through the enormous tree
in our yard
leaves light up greenly
in reflection
and now something else!
self-originating sparks
of brilliant sharp white light
scintillating cascades of light leaves
appearing just for a moment
as the fading sun creeps down
what tree is this
now revealing itself
ever so briefly
in its disappearing?
